Today is another Monday in the midst of my semester, in the midst of my projects, in the midst of my wedding plans, and in the midst of just another year in my life. However, today is also a day for change.
I did it. :) I renamed the blog. 🙂
First of all, thanks to all of you who responded. I laughed a lot at a few of the suggestions and shook my head at a few others. :) Although I didn’t end up going with any of the suggestions, I thought Mandy made a good point with wanting a name that would grow with me – and not just me, but us.
Psalm 34 has been a very precious chapter in the Word for Adam and I these last few months. I encourage you to look it up, read it, and understand the promises that God gives His people. Verses 1-3 read:
1I will bless the LORD at all times;
his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
2My soul makes its boast in the LORD;
let the humble hear and be glad.
3Oh, magnify the LORD with me,
and let us exalt his name together!
I chose to use a section of verse two as my new title for this blog because a heart that boasts in the Lord is what I desire to be demonstrated in only this blog and all my writing but in my whole life. The subtitle “My life, my family, my food, and my writing…. all for the glory of God” is merely there to explain my desires in a little more detail.
Another change that just took place today is the haircut I mentioned before. Although it took 35 stinkin’ minutes to drive to Owego to the lady who has cut my hair since I was eleven and donating 18 inches of hair to Locks of Love for the first time, it was most-definitely worth it. I don’t think I mentioned in the last post, but I got a trim in early January from a lady in Whitney Point, and she was awful and I walked away with as many split-ends as I walked in with. Anyway, here’s some updates pictures to show you the difference:
Here’s me before…
And me now…
LOL… so I have to laugh ‘cause I don’t feel like these pictures are really fair. I curled my hair today, while I straightened it before. The lighting’s different too. Oh, well. I couldn’t find a better “before” picture on my phone.
Moving on… (as I write this, my picture keeps staring back at me – kinda weird – so I’m ready to move on…. lol), Adam and I were going over some random trivia last night from each of our lives, and it was extremely interesting to see the random bits of information we knew about each other and the other more well-known information that we messed up on. Amazingly, even though we messed up, because we know each other really well, we were often only slightly off. We also spent some time working on homework for our pre-marital counseling, and let’s just say, we had a ton of fun answering questions that compare us and our strengths and weaknesses. It was quite entertaining because we’re very similar. We like to joke around that we’re actually twins. lol…that’d just be weird.
So, some of you might know that this past January I got a new cellphone number because I switched from my Nebraska number to a New York number. (lol, I have now had two NY numbers, a CA number, and NE number) To make a long story short, I got a super-cool number that is so stinking easy to remember—the last four digits are 1000. So many people I have talked to are incredibly jealous (yes, that’s exactly what I was striving for – I want to be the jealousy of the Binghamton area… jk) ‘cause it’s a cell number that is so simple, it would almost appear it was a business number. Well, apparently, many people think it IS a business number.
I get all sorts of phone calls, as the locals look for the Lowes Hardware and the Vestal Verizon store. Unfortunately, they too have numbers with the last four digits being 1000. Recently, I’ve also been getting random phones at night. Let’s just say, it gets rather old (ask Maggie, my patient roommate – she would emphatically agree) to get a phone … or two… or three in the middle of the night for people asking for someone else, calling but not talking, or complaining that although they ordered online, they didn’t receive their chicken wings. lol… I’ve been half-tempted to change my number, but I’m not going to. I do like my number alot, and besides the random wake-ups, I don’t mind the other few calls a week during which I direct my callers to the appropriate number. I guess you could say I think it’s worth it.
Well, I’m off to write the rest of my paper for Rhetorical Criticism. Whoohoo!!! Three weeks ‘til I’m done…and SO much to do ‘til then!
P.S. American Idol is on tv multiple times a week. One of those multiple times includes Thursday nights. I’m pretty disappointed, to be honest, because since American Idol has been on, there have been no new Bones episodes. Ugh… Not EVERYONE in America wants to watch singing every single night. Some of us like our murder mysteries.
Ok. I’m done complaining. I feel better now. 🙂
Well, After this week when the top 12 is picked, Idol isn’t on Thursday nights anymore. It goes back to Tuesday and Wednesday nights
Ashley,
Love the hair do! What a gift to donate your hair to Locks of Love. Kudos!
So glad to have found you through High Calling Blogs.
The hair looks nice! I like the blog title, too.
As for Idol or not. I prefer the robot cylons of Caprica, myself. Either that or zombie videos, but people tell me I’m a bit weird.
I, too, like the doo! (Sharp blue eyes are striking as well.) Very nice.
