I’m back!! I’m so excited, and I have so much to tell you about!
Let’s start with my school, since that is the reason I have taken a hiatus from writing. I’m done!!! My last day for school to be turned in was April 2nd. I finished up all my assignments two days early and was super-excited! However, when I got on my email the next morning, I found an email from my New Testament professor saying that two out of my three projects were wrong and needed to be re-done. What??!
Needless to say, I was super-frustrated because this professor doesn’t offer a syllabus for his classes in this format. So, the assignments I had done wrong were only wrong because I hadn’t been told in-detail how to do them. I had even received the model to follow for one of them! Anyway, I talked to him, and he said I still needed to fix them (despite it not being really my fault), so I set out to take another week to write an outline of 1 Peter and summarize the principles in Exposition on Prayer by James E. Rosscup.
Last night I finished my last project, so finally… 28 pages of summaries and 2+ pages of outlines later, I am completely finished! 🙂 Sigh…. it feels amazing!
On other news, (for some reason, I’m totally in a rush to move on from talking about school – I’m frankly sick of it) wedding plans are coming together nicely! 🙂 In the last few weeks, we have printed and sent out our invitations, gone to more pre-marital counseling sessions, solidified some major plans on our honeymoon, set up my hair appointment for the wedding day, and planned one of my bridal showers. 🙂 I have my first bridal shower this weekend at church (so exciting!) and have another in May! 🙂 There is so much left to do, but I’m not stressed or worried. It’s coming together, and in 59 days I’ll be married!
I’ve also started working out. That’s been neat. It’s really just been a half hour a day, but they are great core/ab workouts, and I’ve already begun to see a difference by being faithful to it. I’ve also decided I want to start walking regularly. I’ve tried running recently, and as I think I’ve mentioned before, I just end up feeling ridiculously sick and having very little endurance. It stinks, but walking will actually allow me to enjoy the surroundings more than I would if I were just running and focusing and running some more. I walked up on the hill last week when it was so nice out (and wow, hasn’t it been SO beautiful out!?) and mid-70s. The hill is a nice place to relax, enjoy the sun, take in the country views, think, and pray. I’m sure I’ll find myself up there more as the summer goes on.
Our cabin is coming along! 🙂 The driveway has been put in as far as it needs to in order to start building, and the land itself is in the process of being leveled. The floor plan has changed quite a bit, but it’s WAY better now. 🙂 Dad and Mom (Bowman) have also decided to add on four feet to the length, so now it is 16’ x 28’. I’m super-excited, and for Adam and I, the next step for us is to go to Lowes and pick out counter-top. Our home is coming together. Our prayer request in this regard, however, is that the cabin will be finished by at least a week before the wedding, so we can get everything moved in as much as possible before we leave for our honeymoon.
(Wow, my 6 1/2 hrs of sleep from last night are catching up with me. I’m gonna need a cat-nap soon.)
This past Monday and Tuesday, Suzanne Day came home. lol… I keep wanting to type “for the weekend” because we all agree those days of lounging and cooking and eating and watching movies sure felt like a weekend. Anyway, we had so much fun catching up, laughing a ton!, staying up late, lounging all day, watching Psych, and going kayaking. 🙂 I’ve never been kayaking actually before yesterday. It was awesome! I got kinda wet, but it was totally worth it, and the water wasn’t even that cold! I think summer’s officially here! (This picture was an experiment while kayaking to see if we could “walk on the sky”. lol)
Last night, Em, Suzanne, and I watched a movie on NetFlix (thanks, Mandy! :)) and I have to say, out of all the movies I’ve seen in a long time, this one was the most-enjoyable. Believe-it-or-not, I hardly critiqued at all and simply enjoyed it!! This movie was Julie and Julia. I don’t know if you know much about it, but it’s basically about a young writer who has yet to publish anything. However, not only is she a writer, though, but she loves food (almost as much as I do). She decides to combine the two are write her way through a blog journaling her cooking of all of Julia Child’s recipes in her Mastering the Art of French Cooking book.
During this movie, Em and Suzanne kept looking at me because this girl Julie Powell is very much like me! She loves to write, she loves to cook, and she loves to eat. 🙂 To be honest, it was quite an inspiring movie (a true story to boot) for me as I finish up my school years and begin to pursue a career, start a family, and enter the full-time adult world. 🙂
In fact, this is probably a great time to tell you I’m considering selling Pampered Chef. To be honest, for me, it’s less about the products (although those are amazing) and more that I would get to go to people’s homes, cook with them, discuss food and being in the kitchen, and make money doing it! Of course, this wouldn’t be my primary source of income. That exact position has yet to be determined (once again, you can pray for me in that regard).
Whatever my job is, I’m excited to start working, to start writing, and to start cooking. 🙂
Speaking of cooking, I need to go make dinner for my man before we head off to pre-marital counseling. Tonight it’s nothing special but left-overs. Oh, well. We’ll make it. 🙂
Until tomorrow… 🙂
yeah I haven’t seen that movie, but it’s good to hear some positive reviews! I’ll have to catch it on netflix one of these days – thanks!
It was a long movie, but I have to say that I really enjoyed it when I watched a few months ago.
