Aaron, Adam, Fire, Life

A Day in the Life of a Firefighter

Today started like any other Saturday.  We slept in, and I dreamed about food.

However, it didn’t take long for the day to run away from us in a typical way for a firefighting family. Adam and Aaron got a call for a “garage fire” (which quickly turned into a full-fledged house fire), and I went with them to the station to get my running done.

I ran 3.5 miles, felt pretty good, and went home for a shower, just in time to a phone call to come to the scene of the fire to bring extra gear, a change of clothes, and water and Gatorade.  From there, I took over doing photography for Aaron, so he could focus on firefighting, and spent a good few hours walking around the scene, talking to firefighters, and snapping photos of the event.

Here are a few of the photos:

It was a complete loss.
