My husband Adam has been gluten-free for almost ten years now. He’s tried more gluten-free products than he can remember and more recipes than he cares to recall. As a result, he’s not too big of a fan of bread-related products, one of those being cinnamon-raisin bread. (First all, he’s not a fan of raisins. Strike one.) However, recently, I received

my package of samples from Udi’s, which included the Udi’s cinnamon-raisin bread. I was leery of the cinnamon-raisin bread, because we had two unfinished loaves (one homemade and given to us from a friend and other a differing company’s product) in our freezer not being touched. Adam was so uninterested.
I gave Adam a slice of Udi’s cinnamon-raisin bread for breakfast the next morning without his request for it. I was curious as to his response, and what was the worst that could happen? His response made me so happy, and even this morning, it was his request for it that made me super-happy with the product.
Allergy-Related Information: Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, Soy-Free, Nut-Free
Appearance
Pros: This bread looks like “normal” bread! Airy, thin slices offer a traditional bread for the allergy-restricted eaters in your home!
Cons: This bread has no down-sides in appearance except that it cooks faster in the toaster than normal bread because of its thin slices. So, when you’re cooking it, watch it carefully. 🙂
Taste
Pros: I had the first slice out of this wonderful loaf of cinnamon bread, and it was amazing. It tasted like “normal”, wheat-based breads! … (and I can say that, as one who still eats gluten-contaminated foods.) I was super-surprised when Adam was pleased with it. He said, “Wow, this isn’t bad!” However, he later told me he thought about the bread as he was at work that day and how wonderful it was. What?! If you can get my man thinking about your food at work throughout the day, you have something amazing there!
Cons: I have no cons for taste! 🙂
Texture/Moisture
Pros: Many gluten-free breads have thick slices with heavy starchy tastes that are hoped to be covered by sweet cinnamons and old raisins. However, the texture of Udi’s cinnamon-raisin bread is light and airy, delicately seasoned with sweet cinnamon and non-imposing raisins throughout. It’s wonderful!
Cons: Regarding moisture, is it possible to make sliced bread that comes pre-buttered? 🙂
What I Love

I love the texture, the taste, and the warm cinnamon smell that swirls through my kitchen when I make this cinnamon bread for Adam. However, the one thing I love most about this bread is the airiness. It’s light! It’s soft on the stomach, it’s low in calorie (80 calories per slice), and it’s a sweet bread loaf that my husband will be sad to finish (I’d better order another loaf right now).
What I Would Improve
I wish I could say I had a lot to improve with this gluten-free bread. However, all I can say is that I want to buy the Udi’s sandwich bread now to see if their sandwich bread is as light and airy and wonderful.
