Product Review: Paleo People Gluten-Free Snack Granola

The more I eat natural foods, the more I love them.  I’m into juicing, I’m into raw foods, and I’m into eating healthy snacks.

Paleo People sent me a variety of their all-natural granola snacks in a variety of flavors.  There are so many things I could say about how much I have enjoyed snacking on these products, but let me give you the full lowdown.

Allergy-Related Information: Gluten-Free, Wheat-Free, Oat-Free, Dairy-Free, Egg-Free

Appearance

Four tasty flavors!!

Pros: This beautifully, crumbly but chunky granola snack is all natural and tastes it! The sweetener is natural and that makes me feel confident that eating this is healthy!

Cons:  The biggest negative with the appearance of this snack is its variety in size throughout the granola.  Because it’s called a “snack”, there is a temptation that this is a finger food snack I could eat on a hike or trip.  However, because there are some chunks of granola that are large (quarter-sized) and others that are crumbs smaller than a dime.  Because of this size variety, I felt a little confused as to whether I should eat this as a snack or a cereal; the small size made eating it messy as well.

Taste

Pros: The flavors I was sent were cacao nut, cappuccino crunch, apple crisp, and banana nut crunch.  Within each flavor, there is the consistent natural aspect of nuts, dried berries, fruit, and natural sweeteners such as honey and coconut oil.  However, the variety of flavors offers quite the dance on the tongue. 🙂

Cappuccino Crunch

Cons: My least-favorite flavor offered for the granola by Paleo People was the cappuccino crunch.  I was a little disappointed and surprised that this was so, but the half coffee beans throughout were a little more bitter than enjoyable and I found myself wanting to avoid them.

Texture/Moisture

Pros: I love the overall moisture there is in this granola. Granola can be so dry, so that I’m always found needing a drink desperately. However, with this granola, I’m not found grabbing a water bottle. It’s moist and a wonderful snack for an active activity like hiking!

Cons:  My father-in-law felt the granola was a little chewy for his liking, and the flavors of the cacao and cappuccino crunch were not his favorite.  He agreed the texture was a little confusing (as to how he was supposed to eat it), and he was overall unimpressed with the texture.

What I Love

I’m an outdoor person. I’m a natural eater. I’m a granola lover, a nut snacker, an enjoyer of natural sweeteners!  I love the natural aspect of this granola through and through, and even the aspects that I’ve found unimpressive, I can appreciate because it helps make the granola natural and real.  How often can you say that about a food product in your kitchen?

What I’d Improve

I would definitely say the inconsistency of the size of the crunch pieces in this granola is my biggest issue with this product.  At the end of the day, at the bottom of the bag, my hands were messy with crumbs in a natural, but rather inconvenient way that did and would deter me from being able to enjoy this snack in a variety of locations. Yes, I would eat this granola on a hike or during an activity, but it’s not something I would find myself snacking around the house.
