(In case you didn’t catch my title, it’s Between the Hours of 10pm and 5am)
I don’t know what it is…
I used to go to bed at 11pm (or later…yeah, let’s not talk about the

college years..) and get up at 6am. Now, I go to bed around 10pm and get up at 5am. Why is it so hard?? Why is that one-hour shift such an adjustment?
It’s the strangest thing to me that I can feel a real physical difference. Lame, if you ask me.
So, here’s for some real-life honest truth from me…
Keeping Christ at the center of your relationships will make or break them.
Um….where did that come from, right? Well, this conference Adam and I attended last week in Indiana was a real eye-opener for both of us as to how far off-focus we had gotten with keeping Christ at the center of everything.
Was our marriage on the rocks? No.
Were we facing big issues as a couple? Not really.
We were “just” convicted that we had really not been focusing on putting Christ first in all that we did in our day-to-day lives. That absence from the Word and times of serious prayer in our daily life affected our conversation, our thought life, our overall communication, our ministry, etc.
Refocusing our relationship with an eternal mindset first has found us in the Word in the morning before either of us hit our work schedules head-on. It has found us on our knees together praying for our hearts, our marriage, our ministries, our families, etc. It has found us purposing to improve our walk with the Lord by reading Christian books like Putting the Past in Its Place by Steve Viars (my choice for morning reading) and To Be or Not to Be A Church Member by Wayne Mack (Adam’s choice). A chapter a day is not too much to ask.
Refocusing means re-aligning myself with the current Talk about It Tuesday discussion of productivity. It’s meant refocusing my to-do list, revamping our lifestyle, and quieting my “Martha” heart to learn to be more of a “Mary”.
Yeah, so that’s why I’m hitting the sack at 10pm and getting up at 5am. Call me an old lady–I don’t care. As tired as I am physically getting up this early, I am confident that the Lord will bless our decision to re-focus and spend the much-needed time in the morning in His Word and on our knees in prayer.
So, tell me: what has God been teaching you lately?
I am so very ready for spring. Not only do I detest the cold, but I’m looking forward to:
- growing my vegetable garden (I’m even looking forward to weeding….what??)
- running outside
- getting a burn/tan
- going barefoot everywhere
- tank-tops and shorts
Yesterday I experienced my first cabin fever of the season (haha..yes, how appropriate) as I longed to be outside and active for longer than running from my cabin to the car or even down to the lumber office to pick up a package. Running is happening outside… today.
I’m in a baking mood too! Too bad I ran out of eggs yesterday. Thank God for egg replacer! hehe.. I’m planning on juicing some carrots and apples today and including some of the carrot juice pulp in my spice cake. I’ll let you know how it goes!
Lunch today: homemade venison sausage and biscuits

Good post, I wrote something about this a couple weeks back too, its so easy to keep Him out of our relationships..
10pm to 5 am!! holy cow how can you sleep that much????? must be all that running and juiceing wears you out!
LOL…I hope you’re being sarcastic. 🙂
Yeah, as for me, 10 pm to 5 am sounds like not enough sleep (especially if, like me, you can’t get to sleep right away) . . . I think I’d have to go to bed at 8 or 9 if I got up that early. 🙂 But kudos to you!
