If it weren’t for my wonderful mother-in-law, getting married to a man with Celiacs could have been the death of my cooking abilities. I grew up in a household with a mixture of Italian cuisine and classic Jewish meals, so a lifestyle without gluten (in other words, without pasta, cream-based soups, bread, matzah, toast, etc) would have emptied my recipe book to include a few casseroles, most of which Adam wouldn’t have liked.
Although I was/am blessed to have a mother-in-law to answer my gluten-free questions and a personal unction to keep my husband from ever having to eat “recycled casserole” (Yeah, try Googling that one… you won’t find it), I know that a good number of you (my readers) have not been as blessed. Let me introduce you to your grocery shopping companion!
This handy book offered by Cecelia’s Marketplace is a life-saver to any gluten-free cook. Arranged in alphabetically to include a variety of merchandise from stores from around the United States, this book shows lists and lists of products that are safe for the gluten-free eater–from beverages to meat to shampoos and vitamin supplements.
For instance, did you know there are 14 brands of pre-made gluten-free pizza?? Did you also know that Progresso soups offers 16 gluten-free soups?? There’s this and so much more in this handy book!
If you, a friend, or a relative has a gluten allergy, check out this book! Great for your own kitchen or for a gift!
