Life, Work

I cut a paper in 10 pieces.

It was amazing! I can just see their little faces in my memory, eyes widening with each stroke of the scissors, as if a lightbulb was turned on. 🙂 Yes, I’m talking about Abby and Mikayla, as they caught onto the concept of borrowing in subtraction. 🙂 All I did was cut a paper with the word “ten” on it into ten small pieces.

I have to laugh. I never wanted to teach…. ever. It was the one thing I swore I’d never do… oh, that and working at a gas station–more to come on that later. All I can say is that God has a sense of humor. He knows what He has for us in our future. He knows His plans for us. He knows what we need to grow in and learn, and sometimes, that involves us “lowering” ourselves to tasks or jobs we swore we’d never do.  Not only does He do that, but when we are wholehearted in the tasks He gives us for His glory, He also gives us joy in circumstances where we thought we’d be miserable.

His plans are good. 🙂

Jeremiah 29:11:

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

[Uh oh… craving a pickle…]

In other news, I just got a new job.  Another one?! Yes, but I’m actually saying goodbye to my online tutoring with Smarthinking, Inc.  It was a good job for sure, but 12 hrs/week is not a lot of work; also, since we work with schools’ schedules, I’m limited to schoolyear work with time off (unpaid) during the summer. That’s a big bummer.

So, this new job will actually require me to leave the home (Gasp!) but my hours are great, the travel distance about 2.5 miles one way, and although the pay is less than I desire, there’s the opportunity to work my way up the corporate ladder and I already start at 40 hrs/week.  This new job?

That’s right! I’ll be the newest sales associate at Tim Horton’s at the I81, exit 7 off-ramp. 🙂 I’ll be working 6am-2pm, which is a super-blessing, because it allows me to get up with Adam in the morning (as usual), work, and be home in time to tutor my girls, clean, make dinner, bake, blog, do youth group prep, throw Pampered Chef parties, etc.  I’ll be working 6 days a week (M-S), but the team is really fun/nice and the overall working environment is laidback.

God is so good, isn’t He??

March 12th is the 4-mile run Adam and I have registered for! I’m excited because it’s a little less than 2 weeks away. 🙂 I’ve never been in any official race before….Aaaahh!!! 🙂 lol  It’s gonna be really fun, and I’m encouraged by some new research and what I found on Saturday. 🙂

I’ve been running on the treadmill. Because it’s always harder to run outside than inside, I’ve been running on a consistent 5% incline.  As I’ve gotten more and more comfortable with my speed and distance, I’ve increased both so that now I’m running 5 miles at 6.5mph (a mile pace of 9:41). After some research on this website, I found out that I’m running the equivalent of a mile pace of 7:47.  That’s cool! Just think! I’m a little less then a third of the way to the distance I’ll be running in our half-marathon in September!  Progress indeed!

Well, I’m off to do some dishes, dinner prep, organizing, baking, or something… probably all-of-the-above.
Tell me… what is God doing in your life?

  1. Great to find you through The High Calling email digest tonight. And that Tim Horton’s cup? I’m imagining doughnut heaven, right now. My husband is from St. Catharine’s, ON and is a Tim Horton’s loyalist. They have quite a following, no? Congrats on the new job!

  2. Um, so…I’m wondering about the “Uh oh…craving a pickle” comment…??? (: Is that an inside joke or something you need to share? LOL.
