The first time on eats gluten-free pasta, there’s sure to be a facial expression.
“What is this??” I know I had a similar thought when I tasted it for the first time. However, as I’ve gotten to appreciate it for its taste, I really don’t mind it. Not only do I not mind it, but I’m very used to it. After all, I live in a 99% gluten-free household.
I do have to say this much though: not all gluten-free pastas are created equal. Let me repeat that: not all gluten-free pastas are created equal.
This pasta is no different.
Allergy-Related Information: Gluten-Free, Milk-Free, Soy-Free, Corn-Free, Egg-Free, Peanut-Free, Nut-Free
Appearance
Pros: I love my thin pasta, but I love my well-shaped macaroni. Thankfully, Andean Dream gluten-free pasta offers both! The macaroni is a lot larger than traditional pasta macaroni, almost combining a macaroni with a trenne noodle.
The long pasta offered by Andean Dream is a thin — not angel hair thin – pasta that is even in length and texture (more to come on that 😉 )
Cons: I have nothing negative to say in this area! 🙂
Taste
Pros: There are some gluten-free pastas that taste like cardboard. There are some gluten-free pastas that collapse after being cooked or that just clump together into a solid “blob”. Andean Dreams pasta is all but that! The taste is amazing! I couldn’t believe how much it tasted like REAL pasta!…er… traditional pasta! It was amazing! I actually thought I should check the box again to make sure it was gluten-free!
Cons: I had to cook the pasta a lot longer than traditional pasta, but what gluten-free pasta doesn’t?
Moisture/Texture
Pros: I love this pasta. What more can I say? The texture is wonderful if cooked long enough to take the hard edge off. I’ve learned that gluten-free pasta is best cooked throughout as opposed to al dente, and this pasta holds up to that length of cooking! Also, not only does it hold up, but it remains smooth and without a grainy taste!
Cons: I keep searching for an aspect of this pasta that I don’t like…. I can’t find one!!
What I Love
I love that this pasta tastes like …. pasta! I love that this pasta got a “This is amazing!” after the first bite! I love that I don’t want to use any other pasta after I’ve found this one!
What I’d Improve

Quinoa pasta is lovely. The band you reviewed is very good, I actually enjoyed this brand slightly more http://www.quinoa.net/145/index.html.
Personally I thought it had a better texture. If you get a chance to check it out I would love to know what you think!
