Cabin-Be-Gone

Adam and I have been married for almost 11 months. In just about a month and a half, we will be celebrating our first year anniversary.  Here are some interesting facts:

  • The gift for the first anniversary is paper. As a writer, I don’t think that’s all so bad! 🙂
  • Five days after Adam and I celebrate 11 months of marriage, we will celebrate 2 years of being together as an official couple (May 10, 2009)
  • In our almost-year of marriage, I have yet to make Adam a meal of fish …random, I know. I just realized this recently, and I’m rectifying this problem soon. I’m not sure he’s thrilled.
  • As a whole, Adam eats way more desserts than he eats vegetables.
  • By the time we’ve had our one year anniversary, we will be living in our third home.

Yes, you read that correctly. Third. Adam and I started our married life living in the lower part of A.D. Bowman and Son Lumber Co’s mill office. The open room with a bathroom and kitchen was originally meant for a meeting room, but we enjoyed its somewhat untraditional housing for about 2 months of marriage.

Our current cozy home

We now live in our tiny little cabin (house #2) with dimensions of 16’x28′.  We love it!  Our favorite parts:

  • Never losing each other in the house
  • Climbing a ladder to bed
  • The coziness of a cabin (of course)
  • The fact that Adam can walk to work

So, as you might have ascertained from my mention of a 3rd location, we’re moving. Yes! You read that right! We’re moving from our cozy little cabin to an over 2000 sq. ft home with 4 bedrooms, 1.5 baths, a kitchen as big as half my house currently, a living room with a fireplace, an office, and probably around 5 acres!

So, where and how and why?  Well, Adam’s great-grandfather’s house has been occupied to this point. Recently, however, Adam’s cousin, husband, and their son moved out to move to a nearby town. Adam’s grandpa and grandma asked us if we wanted to move in; and of course, we said yes!

The home is located just two houses from Adam’s parents and just a short walk from the mill, so we’re only changing a few numbers on the road: from 1690 to 1739 US Hwy 11!

Needless to say, we’re very excited!  We’re so thankful for the opportunity, and we’re ready to make the move. We’ll be moving within the next few weeks after there’s been some touch-up painting done and the floors refinished. 🙂

I’ll be posting some pictures soon!!

  1. (which is only note-worthy because there’s 11, sometimes 12, people living in our house 🙂 It doesn’t seem small to me usually, especially since there’s so much outdoors to go out in – and several people are gone during the day. )

  2. wow–congrats on the new place! What an upgrade….maybe you can use the cabin for weekend cozy get-aways? Haha!

  3. Oh, this is so exciting! I can’t wait to see pictures. Meanwhile, cherish the final days in your honeymoon cabin – you’ll always have great memories of that cute place!
