Product Reviews: Kinnikinnick KinniToos Cookies

Adam misses Oreos®.  Most gluten-free eaters would probably agree.  Kinnikinnick sent me their gluten-free version of these chocolate creme sandwiches. Here are our thoughts. 🙂

Allergy-Related Information: Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, Nut-Free

Appearance

Pros: I love how these cookies look!  They look just like the real …er… traditional chocolate creme-filled cookie!  I love companies that supply allergy-free eaters with traditional-looking sweets!

Cons: No cons here!

Taste

Pros: I love that you can taste the chocolate in these cookies! You can taste the real cocoa in every bite, and it’s impressive. They taste real!

Cons: I was disappointed with the creme filling in these cookies. It was more of an icing than a creme. Bummer. I also felt that the cocoa overshadowed the creme. They almost need to be “double-stuffed” in order to enjoy the creme center.

Moisture/Texture

Pros: I like the texture of these cookies because they’re authentic to the gluten-filled/traditional cookies. I also like them because they would most-definitely work for a crumbled pie crust or dessert “salad”.

Cons: Adam found them too crumbly to his liking. That’s such a big thing to gluten-free eaters, so to have them a little dryer is great for recipes and not-so-great for snacking.

What I Love

I really love that Kinnikinnick has focused on alot of the aspects of traditional Oreos that most-remembered and missed for gluten-free eaters. They look right, they have the right consistency, and they’re a great treat.

What I’d Improve

I’d definitely improve the creme-to-cookie ratio as well as work on the cookie flavoring so that the cocoa powder is less overwhelming (They’re almost bitter).
