Product Reviews: Jovial Pasta

As I’ve mentioned before, Adam is a gluten-free food connoisseur. He’s a wealth of knowledge on what good gluten-free food tastes like, feels like, and should and shouldn’t do.

This past weekend, Adam and I and the Chenango Fire Company put on a spaghetti dinner fundraiser for a fellow member fighting lung cancer. Because the menu was pasta and bread and salad, I brought some Jovial pasta for Adam to review.

Here’s what I thought.

Allergy-Related Information: Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, Egg-Free, and Nut-Free

Appearance

Pros: So, here I was at a spaghetti dinner with my own pot of pasta for Adam.  The key to cooking pasta at a spaghetti dinner is keeping track of which is gluten-free and which is “contaminated”.  This pasta made it “hard” to do, because (Hurrah!) it looked just like traditional pasta in thickness, length, and color.

Cons: No cons!

Taste

Pros: Um… wow…. In Adam’s words, this pasta is “freaking banging”. (whatever that’s supposed to mean..lol). I agree though! This pasta tastes amazing!

Cons: No cons here!

Moisture/Texture

Pros: I don’t know many fans of cold pasta. Even traditional pasta gets stiff and doesn’t always reheat well.  The first we ate this Jovial pasta, the texture was perfect!  It wasn’t too starchy or too flimsy.  It held up well to cooking, tasted great a little al dente, and even when cooked longer (as Adam likes it), it held up and didn’t become a mush. 🙂

The extra pasta sat out for a few hours and then sat for over 24 hours in my fridge.  I reheated it in my microwave for about 2 minutes, and wow, it tasted just as good as made fresh!  That never happens with gluten-free pasta!

Cons: No cons here!

What I Love

What more can I say?? I love this pasta!

What I’d Improve

Nada! It’s wonderful!
