Blogging, Church

Blogs, Websites, Youth Group…huh?

A few months ago…hmm…ok, maybe a year ago, I was recruited (or did I volunteer?) to help with the church website.   I tried to work on it, but working through a busy web designer who was also working on multiple other church’s websites as well as ours–it was useless.  We as a church spent a lot of money, and the poor busy tech guy was overwhelmed.  Needless to say, the website never happened. Oh well.

I was unhappy with the fact that our church had no website, so I got to work using WordPress to design a blog for our site.  It’s not our own url, but it’s a start, right?  After a few months of working on this, I have the okay from the church to turn our blog into our own official site with our own domain! 🙂 Whoohoo!  I have to be honest that I’m not ready to release the URL yet–we just got the ok tonight–but I’m super-excited and had to share!

On that same note, one of the areas of the site is the Ministries tab.  This part of this area is our teen ministry. Adam and I have been youth leaders the last two years. Actually, I’ve only been working with the youth for the last few years, but Adam has been the teen leader for about 5 years now. Anyway, I decided that our youth needed their own “zone”. Ya know, their own area, where we can post what we want, about what we want. An “of the teens, for the teens, and by the teens” domain.  So… *drum roll*, after some thought, and a few hours work, we have TheYouthZone.  Please welcome with me the teen division of my blog. 🙂  Yes, this is only a blog for now.  No, I’m not paying for a domain for this one…yet.  Pray that the kids really use this, that it opens up discussion and communication, and that it’s as cool to them as it is to me. 🙂

That’s all for tonight!  Let me know what you think!
